On June 16, the Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County awarded the Mark Awards, spotlighting those who, through arts and culture, have made a distinctive mark on southwestern Connecticut. Honorees were artist Aisha Nailah, the Ballet School of Stamford, Westport Library’s VersoFest, and Laurence Caso, retiring Executive Director of the Klein Memorial Auditorium in Bridgeport, who received the ACE Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County (CAFC) supports the arts and culture sector of the region by providing promotional, capacity-building, and advocacy services. The CAFC champions the gallery down the street and the theatre downtown; it partners with museums and supports libraries. From an individual artist to a sixty-five-piece symphony orchestra, the CAFC actively links its members through one common belief: the arts have the power to transform communities and lives. The Cultural Alliance champions a future with adequate resources that enable arts and cultural organizations and artists to flourish and contribute to the community’s economic growth. •
