On April 30th, two female beauty entrepreneurs, Patricia Gallardo and Saima Rathor, are hosting a exclusive event at the Bruce Museum in Greenwich, which will bring together women from all over for an open and empowering discussion about menopause and the beauty of aging. This inspiring gathering will feature a special screening of Tamsen Fadal’s acclaimed film, The M Factor: Shredding the Silence on Menopause. Afterwards, a panel of experts (Dr. Anetta Reszko, Dermatologist & Dermatologic Surgeon; Dr. Alicia Robbins, Peri/Menopause & Lifestyle Medicine Expert; and Amanda Gabbard, Celebrity Makeup Artist & Esthetician) dedicated to educating, uplifting, and supporting women through this transformative stage of life. With a mission to break stigmas and foster confidence, the event will create a space for meaningful conversations, shared experiences, and expert insights, reinforcing the importance of embracing aging with strength and grace.
For centuries, women have used makeup as a way to feel more empowered and comfortable in their own skin – think of Cleopatra and her dramatic eyes. The allure and transformative effect of makeup shouldn’t go away simply because one ages. To address this, Gallardo and Rathor, launched a beauty company with the mission of celebrating women as they age and meeting their changing skin care needs
“I’ve always loved the power of makeup and its ability to affect a women’s self-confidence,” says Gallardo, who has a background in makeup product development as well as journalism As she got older though, she felt that the beauty industry wasn’t fitting her needs anymore. “Basically, we didn’t see ourselves represented in the beauty space,” agrees Rathor.
Finding the right name brand for their company proved to be challenging. “We wanted to make an epic change in the beauty space and the goal of our makeup is for every woman to have that glow, that light that comes from looking great,” says Gallardo. EpicLight Beauty is a tribute to women as they age, allowing them to embrace the passage of time, while still looking fabulous.
EpicLight Beauty’s first product was Never Settle, a versatile blush formulated with hyaluronic acid, avocado oil and sea fennel extract. The entire EpicBeauty line is clean – free of parabens, sulfates and cruelty-free. “Our products not only make you look good, they are good for your skin,” says Rathor.
They followed up with Lip Flip, a lip treatment and Luminizing Glow Gel, which contains natural botanicals and triple collagen peptides and is flattering on all skin colors – an important aspect for Gallardo who is Dominican and Rathor who is Pakistani. “We wanted women of all skin tones to use our products,” says Rathor.
